Description/Abstract
In 2009, the US Congress passed the Klamath Hydroelectric Power Plant (KHPP) Act, which authorizes the Bureau of Reclamation to build, operate, and maintain the proposed KHPP. This agency-wide, interagency agreement will provide the legal and administrative framework for the operation and management of the proposed KHPP. In order to integrate the proposed KHPP into the broader US hydroelectric portfolio and to facilitate integrated planning and operations, an operational framework will be developed to allow for joint planning and operations across federal and state agencies.NDP MPP and Ontario NDP MPP Jagmeet Singh is seeking the federal party’s top spot.
At a meet and greet last night at the Fort York Hotel, Singh said he is “the best person” to lead the federal party. He cited the division between the NDP’s traditional base of support, which is primarily made up of union members and labour movement supporters, and a younger, more diverse base of support in cities.
“This election we can build a better Ontario, we can be a better Canada. I’m offering that as an alternative,” he said.
Singh is a popular figure in Toronto and holds a number of prominent positions. He is a member of the Ontario NDP executive, the Young New Democrats of Canada and a member of the Toronto NDP executive.
In the lead up to the Ontario NDP leadership race, Singh had expressed an interest in running. He has not yet made a formal announcement about his intentions. He’s expected to make one soon.
“Toronto is the nerve centre of the party and it has been the seat of the federal NDP since Jack Layton,” he said.
